Journey Begins

With a deep devotion to God and a strong interest in Hindu mythology, Nidhi Reddy found her connection to Bharatanatyam at a very young age. Dance has been an integral part of her journey since childhood. She first began exploring the world of rhythm and movement at the age of four through Western dance and later continued with Western freestyle at the age of six, where her enthusiasm, energy, and stage presence quickly became evident. During her early years, she actively participated in several online and offline cultural competitions, festivals, and themed performances, earning appreciation and accolades for her performances.
Although she enjoyed the vibrancy and fast pace of Western dance, Nidhi gradually felt drawn toward something deeper, more meaningful, and spiritually expressive. Her devotion to Indian culture and mythology inspired her to step into the world of Bharatanatyam at the age of eight/nine under the guidance of Guru Swarna K. Mani Kandan at Swarna Natya Dwaraka Dance Academy. During this foundational phase, she learned the basic adavus and was introduced to the beauty, discipline, and grace of Bharatanatyam through Alarippu and other preliminary Nritta compositions. Bharatanatyam soon became more than just a dance form for her — it became a medium to express devotion, emotion, storytelling, and spirituality through movement.
To further strengthen her training and artistic growth, she later continued her Bharatanatyam journey under Guru Rekha Dinesh Kumar at Benaka Natya Mandir. Under her guidance, Nidhi deepened her understanding of the Margam, refined her adavus, improved posture and technique, and cultivated expressive artistry and confidence as a performer.
Over the years, her passion and dedication toward Bharatanatyam have continued to grow steadily. Alongside practical training, she has successfully completed examinations up to Praveshika Purna under the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, fulfilling both theoretical and practical requirements. She also appeared for the Karnataka Board Bharatanatyam Junior Examination in May 2026.
With close to 15–16 stage performances to her credit so far, Nidhi continues to pursue Bharatanatyam with sincerity, discipline, and joy. Some of her notable performances and achievements include performing at Hosur Natyanjali 2026 held at the Kalyana Kamakshi Amman Temple, participation in the All Indian Classical Dance Festival, ISKCON Samskruthi Classical Festival, Nataraja Utsav, Krishna Cultural Events 2025, various Navaratri Uthsavs, and Ganesh Festival celebrations promoting Indian classical arts and culture. She also participated in Kalashri Shibira 2025 at Bal Bhavan and received 1st Place in the Ragga Competition 2025.
In addition to Bharatanatyam, Nidhi has also earned recognition in Western dance competitions. She secured 2nd Place at the Akhil Natarajam Sangh International Dance Competition 2023 held in Nagpur (Season 4) and won 3rd Place in the Social Distancing International Dance Season 4 Competition. She was also honored with the prestigious Star Performer Award by Raaba Media in Chennai. Nidhi is furthermore proud to be an Inspiration World Record Holder, marking another important milestone in her artistic journey.
Through her dance, Nidhi hopes to bring alive the timeless stories, traditions, and spiritual essence that make Bharatanatyam so meaningful. Every performance continues to strengthen her love for this timeless classical art form and inspires her to keep learning, growing, and sharing the beauty of Bharatanatyam with others.
